A ubiquitous and voluminous product of the Anthropocene is waste generated by humans in their every day lives and through industrial processes. Waste is generated from human domestic activities (municipal solid or landfill waste), mining, steel and other industrial proceses, and radioactive sources. This presentation reviews basic low-temperature principles that apply to wastes, and then goes on to discuss the geochemistry of the above waste types in more detail.
